Episode Title: The Light That Keeps You Going
How do you keep going when you’re in the middle of the story? The key is the light at the end of your tunnel. Find out more, coming up next on the Syndicate.
Ep 199 show:
Hello, welcome, and let’s dive into today’s episode of The Perna Syndicate! As we talk about how to navigate the middle of our success stories this week, I can’t help but think of the light at the end of the tunnel. This motivational strategy is simple: the light is the reward for going through the tunnel, for doing the work to reach the goal. The light is different for every person, because we’re all motivated by different outcomes.
Think of the middle of your story as the tunnel. You can see the light, but you’re not there yet. Your goal is still ahead of you. The light at the end of the tunnel can only power your journey insofar as you keep focusing on it.
If you put your head down, if you get distracted by what the tunnel looks like, you’ll take your eyes off the light—which is your whole reason for going through the tunnel in the first place.
Going back to America’s space program for a minute, the light for them was always a successful mission to the moon and back. They never lost sight of that long-term goal, even while they set and achieved many smaller goals on the way.
So what’s your light at the end of the tunnel? What’s the outcome you’re trying to create? The tunnel is the middle of the story, the chapter where you keep committing to your decision to go.
Keep looking ahead at the light—and keep going.
We’re wrapping up the week tomorrow with some thoughts on the power of accountability in setting and achieving goals in the middle of your story. We’ll see you back here tomorrow at the Syndicate.
