Ep 46 show:

Hello, and welcome… you’re in The Perna Syndicate! I’m your host Mark Perna, and today I want to share a simple motivational truth I have discovered over the years. It’s this: “if the want-to is strong enough, the how-to will come.”

The want-to is our desire. The how-to is the steps needed to reach it.

If the want-to is strong enough, the how-to will come. This is a powerful psychological principle. I’ve seen this at work in my own life, and I’m sure you have, too. When our desire, or our want-to, is sparked by something – we can’t stop thinking about it. Somehow we stretch the budget… or work the hours… or make whatever sacrifice is necessary to acquire the desired object. Our want-to fuels our how-to.

It never hurts to ask yourself what your want-to is. What is really driving you forward? If you don’t want anything badly enough to make sacrifices for it, you won’t. To strengthen your want-to, expose yourself to the thing you want. Think about that promotion, go test-drive that new car, dream about your life with the desired object in it. But don’t stop there. Start strategizing. Focus, plan, and take action—and make that want-to happen.

The want-to, how-to principle should spark hope, because it shows us the power of motivation. If we get too fixated on the obstacles, or the how-to, we won’t move forward. But cultivate the want-to enough, and we’ll suddenly find that the how-to is taking care of itself.

Tomorrow, we’ll talk about the want-to, how-to principle and how it applies to the younger generations. We’ll see you then. For more free resources, connect with me at MarkCPerna.com.
