Episode Title: Harnessing the Power of Uncertainty
Uncertainty is not something we like to experience, but nowadays it’s something we can’t avoid. On the Perna Syndicate today, we’ll cover three ways to harness uncertainty—and make it work for you.
Ep 78 show:
Welcome, I’m your host, Mark Perna! This week we’ve been talking about how an uncertain future led one Gen-Z woman to achieve her dreams. Today, I want to apply the lessons she learned to our own lives.
Uncertainty is something we’ve always dealt with on one level or another; it’s just a normal part of the human experience. But nowadays, it feels more prevalent than ever.
The first way to harness uncertainty is to accept it as a valuable part of life. Uncertainty gets our attention, it makes us notice what’s going on and start thinking about what we can do to make things better. This is valuable! Accepting the fact that some things are uncertain—well, all right, maybe a lot of things right now—and being okay with that can really help.
Second, use your uncertainty to plan rather than worry. Worrying does nothing for us, but getting into the habit of planning can provide benefits far into the future. I’m a huge planner, and I’ve always found that coping with an uncertain future is a lot easier if I have plan B ready to launch if needed.
Finally, learn to embrace uncertainty. As much as we might want to know everything that will ever happen, it’s probably a good thing we don’t. Embrace uncertainty—it adds spice to life.
Uncertainty can be a powerful motivator in your life and career, but don’t let it distract you from where you are right now. Harness that uncertainty—and keep driving toward success.
