Making Ripples, Touching Lives: The Blog Turns Three

October 9, 2017 marks the third anniversary of this blog.

It’s been quite a journey. I have gone from publishing sporadic articles for Techniques magazine and other publications to working with my team to write a new piece several times a month. I have written first here about many topics that eventually found their way into my book (due out next year). And I have learned just how far seemingly small ripples can reach.

Our goal for this blog is not just to add the obligatory blog component to our company’s online presence. It doesn’t happen because I have hours of free time to write down my thoughts and share them with the world (I don’t). We prioritize this piece of our communication to you because it’s about you. While I do want to share the value of TFS as a company and educational partner, the real goal is to give you, the reader, valuable information you can use right now to make a bigger difference.

That is, after all, our company’s mission: we share and support your desire to make a difference. Continually providing fresh, free content here is one way we can help you continue your pursuit of excellence. Whether you’re an educator, employer, or parent, I want to give you useful insights and strategies to connect more effectively with the young people you interact with.

Small Ripples Can Reach Far

One of the most reflective things I share in my speeches about Wade is how he made a difference not just to me and my fellow passengers, but to the tens of thousands of education and business professionals who have heard his story. I don’t even know how many people have been influenced by Wade; I’ve shared his story at the end of every keynote for almost fifteen years.

It seems apropos, on the website that bears his name, to think once more about the difference Wade made and how the ripple effect has reached more people than he would ever have dreamed possible. His passion for his profession and genuine warmth toward the people he served have inspired countless professionals—myself included—to do the same every day. And that’s my hope for this blog: that it will continue to be a ripple that touches so many more lives than we might expect.

What’s Next

Our direction for the coming year is simple: we want to give you new ideas, ways to implement them, and tools to make them successful. Here and there we’ll share updates and excerpts from my upcoming book (due out just in time for the 2018–19 school year!). We want to inspire you, challenge you, and maybe even make you laugh at times. We want these small ripples to become waves that reach educators, employers, parents, young people, whole communities, and beyond.

For those who have been along for the ride all three years, thank you for keeping in touch. Speaking for my team, we truly value you and the work you do every day—and hope you continue to benefit from what we post here.

For those who may have recently started following the blog and newsletter, we’re thrilled you are here! Welcome to the BeaWade community.

Finally, because this blog exists for you, you are always welcome to suggest topics you’d like me to cover. Just drop us a line and we’ll be in touch.

Here’s to three years of insights and ideas at—and many more to come!
